Washing machine motor
Hi Everyone,
I recently went to our local landfill and brought home a largish AC
induction motor
from the bottom of a large washing machine. The faceplate says,
"Made in Romania
Motore Asinchrono Monofase
TIPO MSI-461 220/240V 50Hz CL.B
Poli 2 12
Potenza 0,21 HP 0,047 HP
Velocita 2800 g/1 450 g/1
Condensatore 14uF
450V 350V "
The motor has seven spade terminals in a
plastic box mounted on the motor.
>From this I deduce that the motor has two modes of operation.
The two pole mode of operation would be for high speed, probably
for the washing machine spin cycle.
The twelve pole mode of operation would be for slow speed for the
washing cycle.
I am confused about the horse power ratings, wouldn't the twelve pole
mode of operation yield a higher horsepower?
I cannot find any dead poles, or any start or run windings, despite
reading syncmot.zip till my eyes are blurry. The whole
circle of laminated metal "lines" around the armature seems to be wound
with an equal amount of wire. All I can say for sure is that there are two
different guages of wire in the windings. (big and small)
I would like to sync this motor, and my current plan is work out which
terminals are used to run the motor in its two pole mode,
and then grind two very small flats and gradually enlarge them until a
notch in the shaft stays in the same position relative to the case.
Could someone Please give me some advice on all of this?
Thank you,
Alan Williams.
P.S. I can send anyone low-res or high-res digital pictures of the
dissasembled motor.
