Hi All,
I have been working on E-Tesla6 and I thought I would pass on this graphic:
http://hot-streamer-dot-com/TeslaCoils/Misc/BLTRstress.jpg
It is the voltage stress on my big LTR coil in light of the new information
from the TSSP project and my direct secondary profile measurements (more on
that later). The picture shows significant field stress along the top half
of the coil where racing arcs tend to occur.
I must wonder if racing arcs are caused by two (maybe three) phenomena
instead of one. Perhaps arcs along the top of the coil are caused by too
much voltage stress, while those near the bottom of the secondary are
caused by transformer step-up between the primary and secondary. Of
course, there is still the static charges building up which could be a big
contributor to racing arcs too...
Much to ponder...
Cheers,
Terry
BTW - E-Tesla6 will have either keyboard or file input. I still need to
work on the profiles and such but it is coming along well.
Also - hot-streamer-dot-com is working perfectly but I do reboot it now and
then to work on files and hook up the UPS... Try again in awhile if you
can't get through.
