Epoxy some pvc pipe onto the end of the brass knob.  Then solder a copper
wire onto the brass knob.  Have the copper wire grounded to something good.
Then lay the PVC in some sort of groove so you could keep it in a straight
line.  That would keep you safe.  I'm glad your not trying to do it with
your hands.  Saftey first.
