Some newbie questions

OK, here goes.

First of all, hello to everybody. I'm new to this list, been lurking for a
couple of weeks
I have 2 newbie questions, no doubt with some more to follow.

1.What type of filtration/suppression would you recommend for the
mains (230v) side of the circuit. I know you can buy ready made
inlet filters, but are these suitable? I would prefer to build my own.

2. For an RF ground I am using 4x 1 metre 15mm copper pipes
driven into the ground about 50cm apart, connected together with
some heavy duty (rated 117A) cable. Is this enough for my first coil
(specs below)? And will it suit any further (larger) coils??

My coil goes as follows :

2 inch x 8 inch secondary coil
Powered by 2 microwave transformers
Not decided about primary yet (any thoughts? i've read that a
inverted conical saucer is most efficient for my coil size)
Flat plate capacitor.

Thanks for your help. Please bear with me, I am completely new to
the world of coiling (but not electronics)
