Re: tesla coil safety
The sparks, I dunno. *i* got hit by my bank of 12kv120ma NST's, and it
cooked a chunk of skin off my forearm the size of a nickel. Freak
accident, but anywho.....
As for the mercury, don't even think about it. It's highly toxic,
it's reactant fumes are supernasty to you, and best of all, once in your
body, there's almost no way to clear it out before it does some serious
lasting damage. It affects your central nervous system and brain, so on and
so forth. It's an easy way to end up dead slowly and painfully.
So the sparks, I dunno if they're bad. I *do* know a 12kv120ma shock hurts
like hell, and leaves a decent burn. But, given the way the rest of my life
goes, it just par for the course :) The mercury...nah...avoid it like the
plague. THe neat sparks you may be able to use it increating won't be worth
the risks and damage further down the road.
Just my $.02
