About 15 years ago I wound a 5.25" dia x 18" long coil with litz wire,
equivalent to about #26 solid. The results were disappointing, not
worth the investment of such a large piece of my spool of litz.
Although some of the "big boys" may disagree, I am pretty sure that the
Q of the secondary is of minor importance, because the losses in the
streamers are much greater than the losses in the wire. The Q was about
300 at a frequency of 360 kHz, but the loaded Q was obviously much less.
