Dimmer switches can be found at every hardware store for only a couple
bucks. A
standard electrical box is only a few cents. The inexpensive light-dimmer
switches are generally rate at 600Watts at 120V (5amps). I've run 7A
through one
for several minutes on a hot plate w/o a problem, but I don't think I'd run
it at
7A with TC use, due to a non-constant current. A dimmer ought to be able to be
used with a 15kV/30mA NST or smaller.
