Not to nit-pick here, but a small correction is necessary. The
"frequency" at which your ignition coil fires is NOT dependant on
the alternator. The alternator charges your battery (actually it is a
rectified 3 phase generator), but it doesn´t tell your coil when to
fire. The distributor takes care of this. The alternator doesn´t know
when each piston is at or near TDC, but your distrib does ;o))
