Re: hv connections
high voltage cable..
The generally cheapest product is GTO-15 neon sign wire, which runs about
0.10/ft in moderate quantities. It is polyethylene insulated and a bit
stiff.
ANother possibility is copper core sparkplug wire. Runs about $0.75 to
$1/ft at the local speed shop. Typically has a silicone jacket, and is a
lot more flexible.
Or, you can use Coax. Some prefer to strip the outer braid off and just
use the inside. Personally, I leave the shield on and ground it. I use a
lot of RG-213 for HV work. Don't use the cheap foamed insulation RG-59 or
RG-6 for cable TV use, because the foaming makes the insulation worthless
for HV.
You can also just take ordinary wire and run it inside a piece of vinyl
tubing (Tygon).
Finally, you can buy real HV wire from a variety of suppliers, such as
Newark Electronics, or surplus places (like C&H or Fair Radio, etc.)
