Portable Tesla coils

Hi folks!

 I was wondering if anyone has an interest in small, portable Tesla
coils - like 6- to 12-volt units, that produce itty-bitty 'sparks' at
the tip. I saw a schematic for a single-transistor unit at:

which might fill the bill; was hoping to look at other schematics along
these lines in hopes of building a 'plasma tweeter' like that described

http://www.geocities-dot-com/ResearchTriangle/Thinktank/1866/plasma.htm
and which could be driven by a tape- or CD-player's audio amp.
