Re: any insulation recomendations for magnet wire
John,
I am not formerly trained as an electrical engineer as yourself and many
others on the list, but I have found from personal expreience that if a coil
is properly tuned and the coupling K is optimal, just like Richard Hull and
Ed Wingate have pioneered with their designs, a well-made Tesla system
whose sec. coil is only single-coated magnet wire can easily produce sparks
three to four times the sec. coil length. Of course, this assuming that the
sec. coil is topped with a large top cap. toroid. And this can be accomp-
lished with no surface sec. coil flashover. This is what I am refering to by
"properly designed".
Although we may not agree 100% on every aspect of coiling as I'm sure no
two coilers do, I certainly enjoy the exchange of info w/ other more knowledg-
able coilers as yourself, as I surely stand to learn more.
Keep 'um Sparkin',
David
