Re: NST in parallel?

Hi all!

Yep, they love to run in parallel. They have to be phased properly
(search the archives for Phase NST). I'm running 6 12/30's for
~2kva. Works like a champ. When phasing them though, switch the
mains leads on them though, so you can wire straight down the sides
of 'em and not cross the HV over from one side to the other. Keeps
the tank wiring simpler, and the mains leads are usually really
close anyway.

A note of interest on these though..They pull a pretty decent
amount of current (especially when you're stacking 6 or more), and
using PFC caps is a definate plus. On my 6 I'm drawing a round 20A
with the cap, and around close to 30 without. Since I'm only on a
30A breaker for this, and the box is on the *FAR* end of the house,
PFC is good. It's good at any rate, because it eliminates some of
the high current draw on the mains. You probably won't need any at
all with just 2 15/30's, but once you hit around 4 or so, look into
it.

Again all, just my $.02 :))
