They are in the usual catalog sources (Newark, Mouser, etc.)
Over the counter, Electronic City in Burbank (on Burbank Bl) stocks them in
panel and cable mount, both sexes, chrome and black, and from all the
manufacturers (Switchcraft, Neutrik, etc.).
I personally prefer the Neutrik ones.. easiest to assemble.
They are available in 3,4,5,6,7,8 pin configurations...
Only the 3 pin ones are cheap ($2-3), the rest run $5-6 each. They are
nice, though, because they lock, they're fairly rugged, and you can get
already made up cables for them using nice flexible Mogami cable, or using
indestructible polyurethane jackets.
A convention is that Pin 1 is ground.
