Dinging your toroid
Perhaps this is old-hat to users of corrugated aluminum toroids--but I
pass it along nonetheless. I have been using a 5" x 14" one on my t.c.
and I've found that I can reduce the tendency for sparks to favor one
spot or another by taking a small hammer to such spots, tapping slightly
but firmly so as to mash down the corrugation, just a little. It doesn't
take much of such "tuning" to markedly improve the random moving-around
of the spark.
