What is too loud for one person is not loud enough for another. I don't
see any problem with running it indoors, I run mine indoors for up to
80" sparks at 6kW (at least I used to). But I certainly run my new
TT-42 TC indoors which gives up to 42" sparks using a 12/30 NST.
I use hearing protection.
Make sure the sparks don't start fires though by hitting flameable
objects if you run at higher powers. Have a fire extinguisher handy.
One coiler started a fire in his wall or ceiling, and had to tear down
the ceiling pronto with a crowbar to put out the fire, etc.
We're a coilin' coilin'...'til our brains are a boilin' boilin'....
