Michael,
        I've experimented with #24, #26, #28, #30, #32 wire, and I cann't
really tell a difference between consecutive sizes, the differences are
obvious when I compare two sizes appart, like from #24 to #28, and from
#28 to #32. So you probably will be very satisfied with either of the coils
you are proposing. Go For It!!!
