RE: The RAT coil.

Hey Finn,

Very nice job on your coil! I love the thought of being able to adjust
the RSG and had thoughts (they didn't last that long though) about being
able to do the same with my coil. But I never followed through with any
ideas. Adjust the tapping points while it's running, awesome! I never
even thought about that possibility. I hope you post some pics of how
you accomplished that soon.

I have to agree with you about Brents coil. I think it is the prettiest
and "stealthiest" looking coil I've ever seen. I love the almost all black
appearance. For those who never saw it go here:

I designed my primary very similar to your old coil at:
http://home5.inet.tele.dk/f-hammer/tesla/primary/primary.htm
except I made my primary height adjustable where as you made your secondary
adjustable. You can see the similarity of my primary at:

Any how nice job again and please post them pics when you take more!

Bye,
John M.

Gang!

I probably should have written a better destription of my new coil than
the one following, but I just cannot hold it anymore, it had first light
today at dusk, pictures were taken, and here they are:

I wanted a small, sexy coil like Brent Turners, and along the way, I
decided to make it a Realtime Adjustable Teslacoil (RAT) so these
features were built into it. The tapping point is adjusteble while the
coil runs, as well as the 3 electrodes for the SRSG. I had planned to
make the coupling adjustable too, but this has to wait till later.
Powersupply is 4 MOT`s in series, delivering enough power for the 4 feet
of streamer that I wanted with this coil.

Setting the coil up requires a scope, and the fiberprobes that I built
last year. I intended this coil as a testbed for all the theories that
are passed around. One of these is that the electrodes have to be spaced
irregularly if the bangsize should be equal, and this is again
confirmed:

Does a coil like this make sparks as intended? Have a look below, just
those 4.5 feet that it was designed for.

I`l write up a page for this coil later, when I get the time.

Cheers, Finn Hammer
