Secondary Coil nips

Hi Coilers, I started to tune my 3 1/2 coil up. running a 9kv by 60 ma sparks
were only 8 inches. added one more turn to primary and took two wearever
aluminum fry pans taped together for a toroid the sparks grew to 14 inches. No
corona from the top of secondary.. Sparks looked like many pictures on the net
and had a nice burapp sound. I removed the short coil and noticed a few small
shocks from the coil. that coil up until now has never bit me! My son and i
repeated the shock thing several times to be sure getting nipped each time and
once after running the tall coil with the short coil near but not connected i
got nipped by the small coil once again. So detuned back to where i used to
have 8 inch sparks and the coil now doesnt bite. Hmmm after tuning up I know
the level of static electricity was much higher,i could feel it in my face and
the hair on my arms.lighting a 12 inch flourescent lamp at 4 feet from the coil
was easy. cul brian
