Basic VTTC design questions

I am in the process of designing my first VTTC and have a few rather
basic design questions to help me get started in the correct direction.
I have built disruptive coils before but this is a different animal :).
Can anyone share some pointers with me?

1)  Is there an optimal resonant design frequency or frequency range for
VTTC's (100's of kHz)? What is best???

2) Does a quarter wavelength secondary coil normally give the best
performance?

3) Tips on matching the tube plate resistance (C to L ratio) for best
performance and cooler tubes

4) Coupling guideline / recommendation
