1uF is too big.  I don't think you can use it as a tank cap.

Not much.  A plain vertical cylinder is simplest & cheapest because you can
use PVC pipe or cardboard tube.  Conical forms are hard to find.
Horizontal secondary is a bipolar coil, which is somewhat more challenging
to design and adjust properly.  On the plus side, it doesn't require an RF
ground.

No, you can't tune the primary with the spark gap.  The Tesla coil spark
gap behaves like a switch, not a tuner.  Frequency is governed by the
resonant components (primary coil & capacitor, and secondary
self-resonance).  Most folks tune the primary by selecting different turns
until max spark is achieved.
