Re: Magnet Wire Suppliers

Hi Yuri,

Another source for magnet wire, are two-pole, shaded pole, induction
motors. The rivets are easy to drill out and it leaves you with about
1/4 lb of ~28 AWG wire (larger motors have larger wire).

American Science and Surplus sells various induction motors cheaply (I
bought a few at $1.25 to use as electromagnets). You have to request a
catalog, you won't find shaded pole motors on the web site.

They send a catalog a month, with lots of interesting junk. Their
prices are anywhere between very good and unbelievably expensive. Some
of their stuff is entirely worthless. Their descriptions are not always
accurate (sizes can be off, the material not what they say it is, etc.)
Save the old catalogs, they are more like a chapter of a larger catalog.

Good luck
