Answers and discussion can be found in the archives. Short answer:
UV from sparks is an issue, but not nearly as bad as an arc welder (power
in sparks is actually quite low)
gamma and xrays aren't generated (no vacuum, so the mean free path is so
short, that a particle can't get going)
noise is probably the biggest hazard (wear those ear plugs)
