Re tesla tuning
Hi all :
We rebuilt our tesla coil, changed everything but the secondary. The Leydon
jar cap. was way to small to provide the umph needed to get something more
than just corona. now we have 2 oil filled rolled poly caps that hooked in
series measure .0094uf. We built Terry's shorting bar multi-gap (.005in /
gap) with muffin fan blowing down the length of it. The primary is 35ft. of
1/4in. copper tubeing in a 30 degree inverted cone, spacing between wires
(tube) is 1/4in. I chose 30 degrees because of the small secondary size, 2in
dia. by 12in long of #28 wire. My ground wire is #4 ground green with yellow
stripe stranded wire tied to a combination buried conduit and pool ground (
#8 copper wire burried around the perimeter of my 16 x 32 in-ground pool ) .
We are ready to fire up and tune in the next few days.
I noticed Finn Hammer's post about tuning and wounder if anyone has a
schematic for a variable oscillator with an output range from about 10kHz to
500kHz. (Make it cheap, funds are low)
