Here's how I think it "sounds":

BRRRRRAAAATTTTT - Tesla coil operates normally with nice noisy sparks

BANG! Extra energenic pulse jumps through the pickle jar.

CRACK! TINKLE!! Pickle jar cracks from the shock wave and heat of the
spark.

GLUG, GLUG, SPLASH, DRIP, DRIP as the oil gushes out all over the floor.

-at-#%*&% +!! -at-?&%$! you shout as you madly lunge for the off switch, but

BBBUUUUZZZZZ, FLUMP, SIZZLE, CRACKLE first goes the cap as it arcs
internally and the oil bursts into flames.

YIKES, WHERE's THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER?? Gotta use water instead!!

FLASH, CRACK, SIZZLE goes your cap and you, as you never did make it to the
off switch before things burst into flame!!

Etc.

DON'T DO THIS!! Just form a penny's worth of house wire into a safety gap
across your cap and save the fire department and paramedics a trip!

(The above is tongue-in-cheek, but it could happen!)
