you need to find out what kind of additives are in that oil - worm gear oil
is designed for extreme pressure between the face of the worm and the driven
gear - it will probably have molibdimum disulfide or other additives that
may degrade the electrical properties of the oil. Perhaps there is a 76 web
site that gives details??? I think (but do not know for sure) that your
caution is well justified.
