normally used material for a primary coil for that power supply is 50'
of 1/4" soft copper tubing.( about 15 turns)at 1/4" spacing. it can be
either a flat coil or an inverted cone ( like a bowl shape kinda sorta)
of about 15 degrees \_/_ <--15 degrees that should give you good
results i find that if you go steeper than 30degrees it becomes
overcoupled and the secondary begins to breakdown and sparks begin to
break out over the surface of the secondary.

as for software i like WinTesla :)
