Plexiglass (acrylic) is a bad choice for a secondary coilform. It works
only with a very small coil. Problem is HV tracking especially at RF
frequencies. It tends to "track" across the surface due to molecular
adhesion of water molecules from the air. It's OK if sealed, but still a
rather bad choice for RF high potentials. Use phenolic, especially G-10
glass laminate or canvass/linen based phenolic.
