jim,
     the sad state of affairs is that,with few exceptions,(pp,pe have
zero-ish H2O absorption and maybe a couple others)  most plastics not only
absorb water but actually need a moisture content for optimum mechanical
properties...... (nylon 6/6 for example)and Polyfluorotetraethylene(PTFE)
nearly so).
why? the short answer porosity content and size ,the long answer needs
another more qualified then me........
