Well, maybe with a tiny bit of snow, but otherwise yes.

YES! It most certainly would in addition to extending the life span of
your transformer. I myself have a similar sounding coil to yours and use an
LC filter with 1nF and 2x25mH arranged as follows

The cap is composed of 10 separate 15Kv 400nF caps arranged as 5
parallel strings of 2 series caps, the inductors are air-core pancake wound
because there will be a large voltage (50Kv?) developed between the ends of
the coil it either has to be a long single layer helix or a flat wide
pancake if you want to avoid having to use heavily insulated wire.
