Correct. Second problem is that the NSTs are designed so that the
insulation sees only one half the total voltage (i.e. 7500V for a 15kV
NST). Even if you were to ground the connection between NST 1
and NST 2 (end leads), you would still overstress the insulation by a
factor of two. (2 x 2 x 1/2 the total voltage across both NSTs). The
cases cannot be grounded (otherwise you would be shorting half of
the total winding). Remember: NSTs arenīt even designed to run at
their rated voltage (for long), so any overstressing of the insulation
is really asking for trouble.
