Chris,
It should work but you need to keep in mind the NST will draw more
power, get very hot, and may arc over internally. I have done this with a
15/30 NST and it worked great as a Jacob's ladder. It has not fried yet but
I have had liquid tar come out of it before. It would probably arc over if
in tesla coil use. I would not do this unless you have an NST to spare.
