Failed NST unpotting
In an attempt to unpot and hopefully fix my only neon sign transformer
(using the freezing, heating, chipping method) seems to have failed. One
secondary coil of the 15k 30ma transformer was very brittle, and many of the
windings were damaged. I think I remember reading that these cannot be
fixed? The unit had two transformers in parallel to give the desired
output. Would it be possible to use just one of the two paralleled
transformers (the one that works) and not use the one that I broke? The
primary windings are still intact, and I haven't even tried to get out the
second part for fear of killing it. Perhaps if I can use it separately I
will put it in some kerosene for a few days. Thank you for your response
and any comments,
-Andy
