Keep it simple chaps !
Go to any electronics second-hand shop and you can pick-up heat sink for
next to nothing. This can be used in multiple sites - filter resistors,
spark gap, etc.

Even after long runs the spark-gap is only just perceptibly warm. The
filter resistors on the other hand get HOT and some heat-sink is essential
IMHO.
