While browsing Home Depot, I noticed their series of "Universal Replacement"
hot water heater elements is discounted.   I got an armload of 1500 W 240 V
elements for $ 1.90 each.  5500 W "Universal Replacement" elements were a
bit more than $4.  Other stock was normally priced.  

The "Universal Replacement" elements may be discontinued, 
so "get 'em while they're HOT !"
