It's a CW tube coil, but run in pulsed mode.  It's on for one
full 60Hz AC half cycle, then off for a selectable number of half cycles.
(Usually off for 4 to 40 cycles.)  The coil is partially dismantled at
present, so my further observations will have to wait.
