The tuned circuit. Not only that, but a plurality of tuned circuits.
As in the ability to have multiple transmitters and receivers
operating at one and the same time and without interfereing with one
another.
The resonant tuned circuit allowed receivers to essentially amplify
the received signal to a useable level. Useable even without tubes or
transistors. Pretty neat stuff!!!
Hertz was just creating a *ZOO* of awful electrical NOISE that
coupled into a receiving circuit. It was virtually impossible to
operate two Hertzian transmitters without affecting ALL the receivers
in the area. And they HAD to be "in the area", because the signal
didn't travel all that far!!!
Tesla changed all that forever.
