All,
I made up a small TC for a friend. Uses a 7.5kV, 30ma neon trannie,
and gives a 9" spark. Toroid is 1.5" by 4.5" wood covered with alum.
foil. Sec is 3" by 9" wound with #28 formvar. Pri is 17.25 turns # 12
stranded THNN PVC ins wire. SG is 4 series static with silver electrodes,
no fan air. Cap is .00125uF, rated at 10kVAC barium titanate. I took
some care in the construction to make it look nice (never did that much
before) since it will be more of a demo model rather than a test-bed
unit. No chokes, safety gaps, etc. At this low power and small cap
size, it should last awhile. The only things that can fail are the neon
trans and the cap, and new ones can be tossed in place if needed.
