As a side note, you can buy stock aluminum spheres such as the type used
for radar and sonar targets fairly cheaply. I've got a couple of 6 inch
ones (hemispheres that you snap together) that I got when I was working on
sonars a while back. A good place to start looking for metal spinners is at
www.thomasregister-dot-com. THis is the online version of the famous "Tomcat"
that lists everthing made by anybody. It's conceivable that they may have
spun-metal toroid halves available, as well.
