I used mason jars inside a fish aquarium once. I filled the aquarium with
salt water and filled the jars with salt water. Both were filled to the
same level. Mason jars tend to have uneven glass thickness and that causes
some problems but if you swap a few jars out you can find some that work
fine. Turn out the lights when using the cap and you will see blue corona
spots on the mason jars where the glass is thin.
