Matt,
Carefully solder the broken halves together, side by side so that they
lay flat at the same height as the rest of the winding, then cover with
a dab of insulating varnish or Glyptol. As long as there are no sharp
projections that could be sites for corona, you should be fine. Don't
worry too much about the small "gap" created in the close-wound winding
- the coil performance will be just fine.
