Coupling too high (coils too close together). The coils
can be tuned to exactly the same frequency and the effect is still
there. Look up any radio reference book under double-tuned transformers
or coupled tuned circuits, etc. Has been known since the beginning
days of "wireless". A spark transmitter so coupled put out what was
known - correctly - as a "double wave".
