You are correct.  Acetone adsorbs Acetylene much like a Pepsi or Coke
absords carbon dixoide.  The Acetylene tank is filled with cement thats
why
it is so much heaver than other cylinders.  The critical pressure for
Acetylene is 15 PSI thats why the guage is WHITE 0-15 PSI and RED above
15
PSI.  This is for safety.

Gasoline will also adsorb Acetylene and this mixture has been used as
race
car fuel, rocket fuel and Bombs during WWI.
