Ouch Mouser is notoriously expensive! Aside from HAM swap meets, you
can look for local electronics surplus stores. About two weeks ago I
visited a local electronics surplus store and bought a 25 lb. spool
of #20 awg formavor coated copper wire for $10.00 U.S. . I usualy get
most of my wire from the trash. Look for mercury vapor lamp ballasts
and old T.V. and radio power transformers, all of them have large
primaries of #28-#8 awg wire usualy of good length. I have started
saving the degausing coils on color T.V.s too, these have several
hundred feet of aluminum wire of #28-#20 awg. nice for experimenting
with smaller coils and great for R.F. chokes .
Sincerely
