                Interesting - and somewhat disconcerting - that
                you ask!

                It's my way of showing =emphasis=.

                Conventional e-mail practice is to use asterisks
                or dashes for *emphasis*  or -emphasis- or some-
                times even _emphasis_.

                But -- equal signs are easier (for me) to key
                and look better on-screen - IMHO.

                BTW - although seldom seen this use of equals
                was not originated by me.

                The inner implication of your post is that
                the tone and pace of much of my carefully
                crafted prose has escaped appreciation !  :-<
