Hello,

I found a nice shareware program that uses Finite Element methods for
modeling electrostatic/magnetic fields.

http://www.tor.ru/quickfield/

I managed to model a simple spark-gap in about 15 minutes so it's pretty
simple to use. The program showed nicely equipotential plots, field
gradients etc.. Definitely worth looking at IMHO.
