Someone had told me of 2 pie pans back-to-back but I can't imagine
how the ducting will stay on the pans' edges. I find my self looking
in kitchen stores and department stores and hardware stores looking
for something to jump out at me. Service people at these stores ask me
'Can I help you find something?' or "What are you looking for?'.

I always tell them that I will know what it is when I see it!

Thanks,

Bob,

I was at least one of the sources of the back to back pie pan technique.
I have used it with sucess. You are missing one key ingredient: solder!

I made my toroid with two aluminum pie pans soldered together and then
soldered the aluminum ducting onto the pie pans edges.

Aluminum solder can be obtained at the "finer" welding stores. It works
pretty well, but does require a little care. If you get things too hot,
they melt (the aluminum too), and if you try for the perfect joint by
reworking it, you get a grainy oxidized mess. But hey, if I could do
it,
you can do it.
