New reply. Did find HF300/4C34 tubes listed in 1950 ARRL handbook. Filament is rated "11-12 volts, 4.0 amps", which is curious but clearly indicates thoriated tungsten. Rated plate dissipation is 300 watts, rated plate voltage 3000 and rated current 275 ma. I suspect that tube could take a lot higher voltage in intermittent service and might make an excellent coil driver. Question: Why all the interest in tube-driven coils? An awful lot of work and can't give the spectacular performance of conventional coils. If you want to fry stuff with the discharge fine, but if you like raw, obscene sparks nothing beats a good spark gap. Ed
