Try blowing some high speed air (200-300 CFM) through your spark gap.  Set
the muffin fan about 3/4-1 inch away from the gap.  This might help improve
the quenching (turn-off time) of the sparkgap and improve the output by
10-20%.

It sounds like you have a fine system and there isn't much more you can do
to improve the performance significantly.
