We use a small 7 x 7 inch fan rated 325 CFM to blast air through the
sparkgap.  Using two or three small sparkgaps in series also helps -- it
distributes the heat better.  Another approach experimenters have used
successfully is a high speed vacuum cleaner motor to either blow or suck
air rapidly through the sparkgap.
