Suspect it refers to amorphous magnetic materials, a rather
new subject. It refers to more or less conventional materials such
as transformer cores which are heated and frozen fast enough (often
by ejecting in air from the edge of a rotating wheel) that they
don't become crystalline. Magnetic properties are improved (
squarer B-H loops, less loss). Has been a lot published on the
subject in the journals. NOT Ferrites, probably not suitable for
high frequencies except in impossibly thin laminations to eliminate
eddy current loss.
